Are you looking to experience the thrill of hunting coyote at night? Great, because it’s a lot of fun. But before you do so there are a few requirements and equipment you should have in sorted before you head out.
At night you need a light that is designed for coyote hunting so that you can see where and what you shoot. You cant use any kind of light if you use a regular headlight the coyote will know something is up and they will run. However red and green toned lights are harder to spot for the deer resulting in a suiting color for hunting.
We have had the pleasure of testing a variety of lights at different price ranges and in this article, we have put together a list of our picks regarding the best coyote hunting lights for at night.

- Predator Tactics Red Coyote Reaper hunting light kit
Our favorite pick is the predator tactics red light. It comes as a complete kit providing you with everything you would possibly need. There are 2 options in terms of light color, both red and green.

Our favorite thing about this product is that they provide a 5-year warranty on all the LED bulbs. This goes to show their confidence in their product ensuring that its of high quality.
We found the light to be stronger than most models making possible to light up to 500 yards. To save battery capacity Predator has implemented a level control that makes it possible to adjust the light output. In addition to this, there is installed a battery extension cord that allows you to use two batteries simultaneously resulting in a longer battery time and less energy spent on switching batteries all the time.
The predator light can be both be held in the hand and attached to the weapon. In the package, you get all the necessary equipment for this. We found the process of attaching the light to the weapon to be quick and straight forward.

When you have the light in your hand you can feel that it’s of high quality. We properly tested the light and found it to be durable and made of solid materials.
The light works imperfectly up towards 300 yards, but optimally 250 with the lense. The batteries are 18650s that lasts for a long time and is quick to recharge. There isn’t much bad to say about this product, it’s even priced fairly.
Overall we were super happy with our purchase and we highly recommend this light to any hunter who is looking for a coyote light. - INCLUDE MOUNTING KIT – Mounting kit and Dual control...
Orion is a great hunting light that is packed with power providing 700 lumens that can light up 377 yards of red light. This makes it easy to see your target and where you should aim your bow or gun. The coyote won’t notice you even with the highest light output, but you have the option to switch between three brightness levels that can come in handy in certain situations.
The batteries are long-lasting and are rechargeable. You get both a regular charger and a car charger included in the kit allowing you to charge the light on your way to the hunting spot if that would be required.
Orion M30C can both be handheld and attached to the gun. You get everything you need in the kit to do this and the process is simply explained in the manual.
A few costumers reported an issue with the pressure cap/ switch, but besides this everyone seems to be pleased with this light including us.
We found the light to do its job perfectly by providing a strong and long-distance light that made it easy to see every detail of the coyote. In addition to this, the battery lasted for a long time which allowed us to only charge the batteries once before heading out on our hunt.
- Both the green and red light version is available on amazon
- Bright light
- Rechargeable batteries and a car charger
- 700 lumens resulting in 377 yards of range
- Pressure cap / switch needs quality improvement
4. Streamlight 44450 – Best Handheld Light

- Push and hold momentary toggle switch to access 8 Modes of...
- High: 100,000 candela peak beam intensity; 180 lumens
If you are looking for a handheld hunting light the Vulcan is our top pick. It’s packed with power allowing you to light upwards to 300 yards. We found the light to be slightly weaker than the Orion and Predator, but it provided a thicker light covering more ground.
With the low-intensity switch turned on the battery lasts for 6 hours which should be more than enough for a long hunt.
You can feel the quality when you hold the light and its fairly light making it easy to carry on long walks. The handle is coated with thick rubber as well giving you a good grip.
The Vulcan is a beast both in durability and light power. It can be kept under 1 meter of water for 30 minutes without any issue. The light is more than strong enough to light through fog, smoke and powerfull enough to spot coyotes at long distances.
Overall its both light and durable resulting in a perfect coyote light. We prefer the Orion and Predator because of their attachment abilities, but the Streamlight was a great replacement and is a great pick for those of you who prefer a hand-held light.
- Comfortable to hold
- A long and powerful light beam
- Durable and waterproof
- Cant be attached to the gun or bow
5. WINDFIRE WF-802 – Another budget option
- Green Light Tactical Flashlight 250 Yards Range with Barrel...
- Complete set: 1x Green hunting light flashlight,1 x 18650...
- 350 lumens unfiltered green light output produced by Cree...
If you are on a tight budget the Windfire is one of the few we recommend. This light is not of the highest quality and a few users have reported their Windfire to break apart after 4-5 months, but we found the light to provide a strong beam resulting in a good light for the price. Although we noticed the parts were of a weaker material compared to the Predator and Orion.
In a coyote light, there isn’t much else you need than a bright light that can light up a wide area on a long distance and that’s exactly what the Windfire does the best. In addition to this, the batteries are rechargeable and last for a long time. We used the lights with maximum light output and the coyotes did not seem to notice our light beam.
You have the option to attach the light to your gun with the light mount. A few customers have reported that the mount is constructed of weak materials so be careful when mounting the light to your gun to avoid breaking it.
Through our analyses and testing, we found the product to do everything as promised, but the quality was lacking compared to its competitors. But if you are not looking for the best light on the market, but rather want to save a few bucks then this light is a great option to consider, we have still not found a light at this price point delivering the same results and powerful lights.
- Powerfull beam
- Rechargeable batteries
- It comes with a mount, pressure switch, car charger, and regular charger.
- Not durable
- Heavier than its competitors
6. Ulako Green Light 350
- Spotlight or floodlight choice by Adjustable the flashlight
- Single 1 mode, 350 yards long distance
- Equiped quick release mount and Remote Pressure Switch....
For under 30$ you get a highly capable coyote light that can provide you with a solid light beam upwards to 350 yards. There is no other coyote light than can beat the Ulako in terms of price for the quality. When we first ordered the product we didnt expect much because of the low price tag, but after giving it a try we were surprised by its performance.
Similar to other coyote lights you get a zoom function, rechargeable batteries and amount. We actually found little to no difference between the Ulako and higher-priced lights such as the Windfire. The Ulako has a bit weaker beam, but not a lot compared to the price difference.
We found the beam to do as advertised lighting up close to 300 yards. The beam is squared shape which some customers disliked, but this is really a personal preference more than a negative.
The kit comes with a durable mount that suited most of our guns in the shed.
Overall this is an amazing light that gives you a lot for your money. You can buy 5 of these and still pay less than you would for more expensive models. If you are a beginner looking to get a usable light for the upcoming hunting season than you should sincerely give this light a try.
Types of coyote hunting lights
Now, which type should you choose and what types are there? In this article, we have only mentioned a selected portion of the different types that currently are sold on the market. The reason for this is that we prefer the mounted and handheld lights since these tend to provide the most amount of light for the price, but for those of you who are curious let’s dive into the different types that exist.
As the name states, these are lights worn on top of your head. These tend to both be easier and lighter to use, but the light beam tends to be weaker thus lighting up a shorter range and smaller area. In addition to the less powerful light, the battery tends to be smaller. This means you either have to hunt for a smaller time span or bring a few extra batteries as a backup.
The handheld lights are great. They usually got a larger battery and has a brighter light output. The problem is that they require one arm for holding the light making it hard for you to make a good shot at the same time. If you have a partner to control the light while you aim in on your target a handheld light can be a great option to consider.
Having the light mounted to your gun is the easiest, but not the safest solution. The benefit of this type is that you can point the light exactly where you want while you have your hands free to take the shot. It’s the most commonly used type of light these days exactly because of this. The downside of having the light on your gun is that when you are looking around you are pointing with a loaded gun which is a deal-breaker. When scouting for coyotes ensure that your partner is either behind your or in a safe place.
Color of beal
- Choose red
There are two colors commonly used in coyote lights and that is green and red. The question is which one should you choose? Most of the lights on this list are installed with red lights, but you have the option to purchase the green version. We prefer red over green, down below we will go more in-depth explaining why.
Range and brightness
When you are looking for a light you want one that can handle the range you are shooting at. Most hunters shoot anywhere from 100-200 years when hunting for coyotes so your light should at least handle this. On the list below you will find the advertised range below the product, some states that they have a 500-yard range, but through our testing, we found that most lights had a 300-yard range. 300 yards is not 500, but it’s still more than enough for hunting coyotes.
If you are using a 300-yard coyote light and is struggling to take the shot then you are probably out of range to make a clean shot.
When you go for a hunt you want your light to survive the whole trip if not that then at least most of it. Having a light with a durable battery is essential to get the most out of your trip. Changing batteries every 30 minutes can be a painful process that advises every hunter to avoid. In our product list, most of the products have a long-lasting battery that will last you for at least 4-6 hours.
Most of the batteries are rechargeable which is a nice feature that saves you a lot of trouble in the long tun. A few of the models have a battery extension cord installed. This allows you to connect two batteries at the same time resulting in a longer battery time and makes it possible to go a whole trip without having to change the batteries.
We have found a lot of lights on the market to be of bad quality resulting in broken parts and lights. You want a light that can take a beating and is built to last for a long time. Most of the products on our list has a solid frame, but we found the cheaper models to break in a short amount of time. You need to decide for yourself if its worth invest a few extra dollars to get a higher-end light that will last you for a longer time.
The mount is one of the parts that gets broken most easily which is why it’s important that its of high quality. In addition to a robust mount, you need one that is easy to use and setup. We found a few models to have a tricky mounting system resulting in frustration and a waste of time. Before your purchase we recommend you to read the reviews to ensure that the mount is of high quality.
In addition to all of the points mentioned above, you want a light with good features. Some of the features we look for are brightness adjustability and a zoom function. The zoom function allows you to narrow the beam to get a clearer view of the coyote in front of you. Having a better-focused light makes it easier to make a clean shot. Although these are handy the lights can get a bit pricy with both of these installed, you need to decide if the features are worth the extra cost.
In our list, we have a wide range of products in different price ranges. We found the pricier models to have the best durability and features compared to the lower end models on this list. How much you are willing to spend yourself is something you need to figure out for yourself, but we recommend to go for the higher priced products since these give you the best in terms of both quality, features and powerful beams.
Why should you choose red light over green light for coyote hunting
Now let’s take a deeper dive into why you should choose a red light over the green.
A red light is a safest and best option for coyote hunters. The reason for this is that it has a mellow vibe that is harder for the coyote to spot in the night time. In addition to this, the red light cuts through damp air and smoke easier than a green light. At night time there is often damp air and the ability to light through it is essential.
We found the green light to give a larger reflection back onto you compared to the red version. When the coyote comes insight this can either make or break your hunting success.
We hope you fond this article helpful and that is saved you both time and energy on choosing your next hunting light. Through this article we found the Predator tactics to provide the best light for the money. The predator is the most expensive light on the market, but we found it be for a good reason.
But through our search, we found a cheap model as well for those of you who want to save a few bucks, but still have a light that functions good enough for a coyote hunt and that was the Ulako Greenlight 350.
