Game hunting and shooting with a bow has always been a passion for me.

Ever since my father took me to hunt my first Nilgai at the Riata Worldwide Hunting and Fishing as a teenager, I knew bow shooting would have a very special place in my life.

It was through him that I learned about the different bow types as well as the importance that bow sights hold for shooting moving targets over great distances.

But picking the right bow sight that can fit your needs the best can be rather complicated. From single pins to multiple, stationary, and even moveable, there are a lot of varieties to keep in mind.

So, if you’re caught in the same dilemma as so many of the other bow enthusiasts, then I have the perfect guide for you today.

9 . Best Bow Sight Reviewed And Rated

Hello! This is me Andy the author, and the bow sights I have reviewed today are some of my personal favorites. And I am confident that one among them is guaranteed to catch your fancy.

1. Trophy Ridge Volt 5 Pin Bow Sight

Trophy Ridge Volt 5 Pin Bow Sight

  • Offset mounting holes for added customizability
  • Properly align shots with the precision installed bubble...

Among any hunting circle (not just mine), multiple pin bow sights are not exactly known for their budget-friendly nature.

However, the Volt 5 Pin model from Trophy Ridge is one of the very few sights out there, which offers shooters an affordable aiming option for both game hunting and competitive shooting.

My Experience.

I have had the chance to use the Trophy Ridge Volt 5 Pin recently at a fair. And as soon as I mounted it on the bow, I realized that this sight was going to be something very special indeed.

Made with a laser-etched aluminum material, the Volt 5 works amazingly well under a variety of weather conditions, especially when there is a lot of rain. The fair personnel assured me that the sights work under both dry and rainy conditions perfectly, without slowing down the user in any way.

But to him, the sight’s prowess under a variety of weather conditions was not its most impressive feature. The Volt 5 actually steals the show with its uniquely designed universal mount. The mount just screams ‘ease of use,’ which is music to my ears.

It’s designed in such a way that while using it on the bow, I was able to employ both of my hands alternately to adjust the aim and improve the overall accuracy of the shot.

The versatility of the multiple sights (courtesy of the 5 different pins), makes this model one of the best for compound bows. You can equip it very easily on any type of compound bow models. And it really doesn’t matter if you’re right or left-handed, as it caters to the needs of both types of users quite well.

Another aspect of the bow sight that I liked was the use of the green accent color. Using green makes sure that the shooter can clearly aim down the sight irrespective of the lighting conditions.

What could have been better?

Though made with laser-etched aluminum, the Trophy Ridge Volt 5 Pin is not designed to be as durable as I would have liked. Sure! It can work perfectly well under heavy rains, but when it comes to physical damage and rough use, it can hardly keep up with some of its other competitors.

Pros:

  • One of the most affordable multi-pin bow sights in the market.
  • Unique universal mount design, which allows adjustments with both hands.
  • Green accent colors help to aim clearly irrespective of the lighting conditions.

Cons:

  • Not as durable as I would have liked it to be.

  • 3, 5 or 7 PINS - .019 Fiber Optic Pins. Stack tight pins,...

When it comes to the category of fixed pin bow sights, this amazing model form Field Logic IQ is going to be my personal favorite. This is one bow sight that I recommend for newer users, and have also gifted it to a few of my friends, who were planning to take up bow shooting as a hobby.

My Experience.

Well, more than my experience, I would like to talk more about the experience of one of my friends had with this amazing sight. Now, universally speaking, compound bow sights are some of the hardest to master, and George indeed had a tough time aligning the sights with the more standard models out there.

Field Logic IQ solves this problem by reducing the learning curve and making it more accessible.

Moreover, the sight model comes in three different counts of 3, 5, and 7, which allowed George to adjust the pins in different shooting ranges. Single pins periodically need complex adjustments, which gets quite difficult for newer users to get a proper hang of.

With the Field Logic IQ, George could make very easy adjustments to the shooting range and was able to dismount and remount the sight in a matter of seconds.

However, what he loved the most about this sight is the dual position mount feature that helps the shooter to install it in a way that fits the user’s specific needs. Every shooter’s needs and demands are different, and Field Logic IQ understands this very fact.

George had a great time learning to use his bow with this sight, and he comes over often to my make-shift archery range to improve his shooting skills.

What could have been better?

One of the issues that I noticed with the Field Logic IQ is the poor visibility that it has under low-light settings. Unlike the Volt 5 from Trophy Ridge, this sight doesn’t exactly come with a prominent accent color; so, seeing objects clearly at certain times of the day can be problematic.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • Comes with three different pin counts, making it quite a versatile bow sight.
  • The windage and elevation are easy to use and adjust.
  • One of the best-fixed pin sights for new compound bow users.

Cons:

  • Makes it difficult to see objects clearly under low-light conditions.

  • Clear, unobstructed view of your target with Vertical...

With multi-pin bow sights being the more popular category in the market, it’s really not all that surprising why there is such an abundance of the 5 pin types. So, if you’re looking for the top dog in the 5 pin sights, then Trophy Ridge has got you covered with the React V 5 Pin model.

The sight has gotten rave reviews and recognition across all e-market platforms and is yet to get a rating below 4/5 stars among my bow enthusiast friends.

So what makes it so special?

My Experience.

The Trophy Ridge React V 5 Pin Bow Sight excels in accuracy and providing the shooter with a stable aim across a variety of distances. As it comes with what Trophy Ridge likes to call the React technology, it’s one of the more user-friendly 5 pin sights.

I just love how the tech figures out the distances you intend to aim at, to fix the yards all on its own. All I have to do is set the sights for two of the pins; the React tech does the rest.

For example, if I put in the markings for the 20-yard pin and then on the 30-yard pin, the React V5 will automatically calculate how much pin gap is needed and set the rest of the pins for the 40, 50 and 60-yard marks respectively.

This comes in quite handy for newer bow users and for projectile shooters who have to quickly and accurately figure out the yard markings when shooting mobile projectiles.

The V5 allows for dual-axis adjustments as well, along with providing tool-less micro windage and elevation customizations. It will help you shoot from an elevated platform without much issue at all.

What could have been better?

The Trophy Ridge React V 5 Pin Bow Sight is NOT the most durable bow sight that I have come across. It doesn’t have a complete metal body and can show signs of damage and corrosion if subjected to constant rough use and harsh weather.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • The best 5 pin bow sight in the market.
  • Comes with the React tech that automatically marks the yard distances.
  • Easy windage and elevation adjustments.

Cons:

  • Lacks a complete metal body, and can show signs of corrosion with constant rough use.

  • Strengthen accuracy at severe angles over longer distances...

When it comes to picking bow sights for myself, I often surf the internet for models that not only offer accuracy but also a lot of durability and long-lasting features.

I recently came into possession of the React Pro 5 Pin from Trophy Ridge, and I won’t be lying if I said that it’s one of the most durable bow sights I’ve ever used.

My Experience

It’s safe to say that I am one of those bow enthusiasts who likes to get their hands dirty. I love hunting game in forests and the wild savannah. I frequently go on trips and expeditions, so it’s not all that surprising when my equipment comes back bruised and battered.

The same is true for the bow sights I choose as well, and that’s why I go for models that are long-lasting and can withstand the harsh elements. The React Pro comes with a deep attention to detail in terms of design. A lot of care is put in the body, and the model is constructed out of a high-quality ballistic co-polymer and aluminum.

This keeps the sight incredibly durable and reliable even under difficult environmental conditions, and rough use. It’s quite resistant to scratches and physical damage, and I am able to take it along with me to long camping trips in the wild.

However, the durability of the React pro is not the only feature that makes me go ‘gaga’ over it; the other aspect of the sight is the third axis adjustment.

Not a lot of bow sights offer the third axis adjustment and is one feature that is mainly found in single pins than in multiple ones. But, the React Pro is one of the very few models out there that gives users this customizable feature, which will help to significantly improve their aim at greater distances.

What could have been better?

No matter how much I adore the Trophy Ridge React Pro, I honestly cannot call it a perfect product. One of the grievances that I have with it is the Rheostat Light; it’s cheaply made and often tends to flicker.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • It comes with third axis adjustments that significantly improves one’s aim.
  • One of the most durable bow sight models in the market.
  • The model comes in different pin sizes as well as for different hand styles.

Cons:

  • Rheostat Light seems to be cheaply made and often tends to flicker.

5. Apex Gear Covert Pro

Apex Gear AG2301GB 1 Dot Covert Pro Sight, Right...
  • Pro dot illuminated aiming point
  • Easy one hand adjustment
  • Rear facing sight tape with adjustable indicator pin

The professional and the more adept bow shooters in my hunting circle generally prefer to go for sights, which gives them maximum range and accuracy. And in the market, there are not many models out there that can cater to these competitive demands as well as the Apex Gear Covert Pro can.

My Experience.

So what makes the Apex Gear Covert Pro such a popular go-to for professionals?

To start off with, let me just tell you that this bow sight model is designed to be one of the most versatile options on the market. May it be for competitive projectile shooting or wildlife hunting through the forest and the Savanna, the Apex Gear Covert Pro will help you through it all.

I love how lightweight and durable the build is. The long-lasting high-grade aluminum body is capable of withstanding the harshest of environmental conditions, and be used as a heavy-duty unit.

Moreover, as it’s a single pin sight, it can help shooters reach maximum accuracy, and even allow them to use their bow with both eyes open. As there are no extra pins to clog up the peripheral views, hunters will have an easier time tracking fast-moving targets and keep them within sight.

To further improve the shooter’s accuracy, Apex Gear has equipped the Covert Pro with ‘easy to use and adjust’ windage and elevation. It aids the user in rough terrain and helps them make quick customizations while still aiming down the sights.

However, one of the best features of the Covert Pro is perhaps the green aiming point. Some of my friends, who’re adept bow users, simply adore the clear visibility of the point and its illumination feature.

Irrespective of the time of day, even in low light settings, the sight offers amazing accuracy to users.

What could have been better?

The Apex Gear Covert Pro is not the easiest to use bow sight in the market. It has a very steep learning curve, and the single pin feature makes it even more difficult for beginners to get the hang of.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • One of the best bow sight models out there for professionals.
  • Durable aluminum body with great, long-lasting features.
  • Clear green aiming point with illumination features.
  • Comes with easy to adjust windage and elevation.

Cons:

  • Difficult to aim and use by beginner bow users.

When it comes to the field of single pin bow sights, the Trophy Ridge Drive Slider Bow Sight is in my books the best model out there today. I have been using it for months now, and it has been quite a reliable companion in so many of the competitive shooting games that I took it to.

My Experience.

I first chanced upon the Trophy Ridge Drive after a friend of mine reviewed it on his website for composite bows and bow users. He wrote that the sight ‘is simply one of the best bow sights out there for competitive projectile shooting.’ And ever since I used the model myself, I found the statement to be quite true.

For me, the Trophy Ridge Drive is all about accuracy and gaining the upper hand over the competition with superior aiming at far off distances. It comes with a ‘Proper Align’ system, which allows me to hit targets with a crossbow at 220 to 320 fps.

The aiming and adjustable features are easy to use, as well. Single pin models are typically quite difficult to master, but the Trophy Ridge Drive breaks that convention a bit and makes it easier for newer shooters.

Though the learning curve is still pretty high compared to the multi-pin models, it’s not as steep as some of the other standard single pin sights.

The ultra fiber optics used in the kit significantly improves the sight through the pin and keeps my aim steady and accurate on the toughest of shooting courses. The sight also compensates for uncertain environmental conditions, which is quite rare for a sight of its price range to possess.

What could have been better?

The Trophy Ridge Drive might be perfect for the more domestic competitive stage, but when it comes to wildlife hunting, there are some reservations from my part.

The model is not as durable as I would have liked it to be. I had often dropped it from my hands and damaged it; as a result, making me either go for a replacement or repair.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • One of the best single pin sights for competitive projectile shooting.
  • Keeps the aim steady and accurate even over long distances.
  • Compensates for bad weather conditions, making it an incredibly reliable choice.

Cons:

  • Lacks durability, and gets damaged quite easily.

7. HHA Optimizer Sight 5519 1 Pin .019 RH

Sale
HHA Optimizer Sight 5519 1 Pin .019 RH
  • CNC machined
  • Armor pin
  • Tool free micro adjust windage

If I were to go by my personal experiences, as well as with those of my hunting pals, I think I can safely say that when it comes to picking the right bow sight, intermediate bow users have the toughest time.

So if you’re looking for something which is a bit above the beginner scope, but not completely a professional-grade model, then the HHA Optimizer Sight 5519 will suit you perfectly.

My Experience.

As soon as new bow users outgrow their training wheels, which is a ‘beginner sight’ in this case, they find it quite difficult to find a model that can complement their present skill level.

So they end up going for a professional-grade bow sight and have a terrible time at the shooting range as a result. The HHA Optimizer solves this very issue for bow enthusiasts, and their 5519 model is specifically designed to cater to the needs of intermediate users rather well.

Though it boasts a single pin design, the sight is not at all difficult to use and makes the perfect stepping stone for shooters who wish to go for a more competitive model in the future.

Single pin sights are tougher to use than the multi-pin ones, but the single pin HHA Optimizer comes with a rather easy to follow learning curve. Unlike most other single pin sights in the market, this one will help you adjust the pointers much more easily and bring about a steadier aim without having to do much.

Moreover, the HHA Optimizer 5519 breaks the convention in yet another aspect, and that is with its 5-yard increments. The sight will allow you to aim at 20 and 60 yards, which is much above the limit of what the other standard models are offering in the market today.

What could have been better?

One aspect of the HHA Optimizer 5519, which disappoints a lot of the customer base, is the lack of the rheostat light.

Though the company advertises that it’s included in the kit, it actually isn’t, but to me, it’s not exactly a deal-breaker and can be worked around.

CHECK PRICE

Pros:

  • One of the best bow sight options for intermediate shooters.
  • It comes with ARMOR sight pin technology that significantly improves accuracy.
  • Has a 5-yard increment adjustment feature, which will allow you to aim till 20 and 60 yards.

Cons:

  • There is no rheostat light present even though it was advertised by the manufacturer.

Buyer’s Guide: Picking the right Bow Sight.

With my top list done and dusted, I would like to suggest a few tips that you need to keep in mind before investing in the bow sight of your choice.

So what are some of the bow sight basics to know and look out for?

In terms of Pins and Sights.
Fixed Pins.

Fixed Pin bow sights are one of the most common models that you will come across in the market. They are primarily made of 3 to 5 pins, which will help any shooter target projectiles in a variety of distances.

And in my experience, most sight models use the bottom pin to shoot projectiles at longer distances, while the top pin is best suited to go for targets that are closer.

Fixed pins provide a lot of versatility when it comes to increasing and decreasing the shooting range of the bow. The more pins a sight has, the more versatile the range options will be.

So if you love using your bow to shoot at multiple distances, then fixed pin sights are the best choice to go for.

However, do keep in mind, that more pins that a sight has, the more difficult it will get to remember the shooting distances that each of them have been calibrated for.

Moveable Pins.

The moveable pin bow sights will fit the needs of intermediate bow users the best. So, if you’re quite familiar with shooting both moving and stationary projectiles at a distance, then this sight model can be the ideal pick.

The primary difference between the fixed and moveable sights is that the latter has only one pin in it. You will just have to adjust the housing of the bow sight to be able to accurately shoot at the target.

This makes the moveable pins much harder to use, as it will require a considerable amount of muscle memory to master it.

However, what I love about the moveable pin models is that it’s incredibly fun to use once you get the hang of it. Pulling off a successful shot is incredibly rewarding with this, and it gives one a sense of satisfaction with every use.

In the professional bow shooting scene, some of the best sights on the market today comprise of single pins. They are used quite extensively in competitive games as well as in hunting.

Pendulum Sights.

For those who shoot in rough and uneven terrain, going for the sights that support a pendulum mechanism, could be the ideal choice indeed.

Even when I am firing from an elevation, the pendulum feature will quickly equalize the bow sight and takes in the height to keep my shots accurate.

The pendulum type of bow sights is mainly used during hunting in the wild than for competitive shooting. The terrain in the wild is never truly flat, so shooting at large distances gets rather difficult with other standard sights.

Exclusive sights for competition.

These types of bow sights are used exclusively in competitions and by professionals for various shooting sports. The competitive sights are all about providing the user with a higher level of control.

It’s much more maneuverable as well and can be mounted on the bow easily and without much hassle. However, these models are quite expensive and out of reach for most average users.

Durability.

It’s no news that bow sights often undergo an incredible amount of stress during shooting, irrespective of the surrounding environmental conditions.

Because of this very fact, it’s important to go for bow sights, which are made as durable as possible. It should be designed to cope with heavy-duty shooting without compromising on the accuracy in any way.

A sight model made out of aluminum is lightweight, durable and lasts much longer than the other standard models.

But if you want to go a step higher, then it’s better to go for something that’s made out of ballistic co-polymers. They are even lighter, comfortable in the palms, and incredibly durable.

Single Bow Sight.

Most bow users tend to prefer single sights over their multiple counterparts. The simplicity and ease of use of the single sites are what makes these models so very popular among both newer and adept bow enthusiasts.

My huntin’ pals prefer them as well, as these sights only use one pin to aim at the target. They can quickly make adjustments to the housing and get the desired range even when the bow is drawn.

The single sights are much lighter, and I love just how accurate they can be even under a variety of environmental conditions. The sights don’t clutter the shooter’s view and provide more peripheral review and improve the aiming accuracy.

Multiple Bow Sights.

Multiple bow sights, though not as easy to use as the single ones, come with a lot of versatility to aid the shooter’s accuracy at different ranges.

As it comes with a lot of pins, you will be able to dedicate each of them to particular shooting distances. You will not have to make a different adjustment every time and have a much easier time shooting at stationary targets over a variety of ranges.
